Fifteen years of helping students see what others only read.
Jim Ma brings over fifteen years of experience in private education to his role as Principal of Synapse Academic School. His career has been defined by a single conviction: that students master complex concepts faster and more deeply when they can see them — not just read about them.
That conviction became a methodology. The visual-first approach Jim developed through years of one-on-one and small-group AP tutoring transforms abstract ideas into diagrams, frameworks, and spatial relationships that students intuitively understand. What began as a teaching technique became a philosophy — and now powers the full Synapse Academic School classroom experience: live instruction, guided practice, and the kind of personalized attention that only small cohorts allow.
Over the years, Jim has helped more than 200 students gain admission to top U.S. colleges and universities. Their success is not a marketing claim. It is the reason the school exists.
"Students don't struggle because the material is too hard. They struggle because the material is presented in ways that don't match how they think. Show them the structure of an idea — visually, spatially — and understanding follows naturally."
— Jim Ma, Principal
